Mr. Martin received his B.A. from Yale University in 1993, his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 1997, and a certificate in the arts from the University of Florence in 1992.

At Yale, Mr. Martin majored in philosophy. He was awarded the Timothy Dwight College Master's Cup for outstanding leadership, and was the youngest student to clerk for the New Haven Superior Court.

At UCLA School of Law, Mr. Martin distinguished himself as a leader and scholar. He served as a law journal managing editor and copyright editor, and participated in UCLA's prestigious Moot Court program. Mr. Martin also externed in the Chambers of Judge Stephen Reinhardt of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Martin has been published in the UCLA Entertainment Law Review and the UCLA Bulletin of Law & Technology. His article, "Rebirth and Rejuvenation in a Digital Hollywood: the Challenge Computer-Simulated Celebrities Present for California's Antiquated Right of Publicity," grapples with the difficulties that California's right of publicity law faces with the advent of digital actors. Another of his articles, "Unlearning the Obvious: Conceptual Blockbusting in the Art of Negotiation," explores the interdisciplinary application of psychological techniques to contract negotiation.

Since graduating from UCLA, Mr. Martin has gained invaluable, practical business experience in the entertainment industry. He first cut his teeth at Peters Entertainment Company (the producer of SUPERMAN RETURNS) then worked for the United Talent Agency. These positions provided Mr. Martin with the opportunity to interact with talent and engage in negotiations and to appreciate the needs of business clients.

Mr. Martin has worked as an attorney and law clerk in the legal department of the Directors Guild of America. At the DGA, he successfully represented the Guild in residuals arbitration and negotiated settlements. Mr. Martin also worked as an executive in the residuals department of the Screen Actors Guild of America. At SAG, Mr. Martin was responsible for the collection of millions of dollars in outstanding residual payments.

Mr. Martin is admitted to practice law in the state of California and before the United States District Court for the Central and Northern Districts of California as well as the First and Ninth Circuits of the Federal Courts of Appeal. Mr. Martin is a member of Phi Delta Phi (an international legal fraternity and honor society), the American Bar Association, and the Yale Club of Southern California.
